5 acne-fighting tips every teenager needs to know

Most teenagers experience acne at some point in their lives. For some, it is a mild nuisance that goes away on its own. For others, it can be a more serious problem that requires treatment.

If you are struggling with acne, don't worry - we have 5 tips that can help!

  1. Keep your skin clean: Acne is caused by a buildup of oil, dirt and bacteria on the surface of the skin. It's important to keep your skin clean by washing it twice daily with a gentle cleanser. Using O Cosmedics' Corrective Cleanser & Peel helps to reduce inflammation and kill acne-causing bacteria.

  2. Use an exfoliant: Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, which can clog pores and cause breakouts. It also encourages cell turnover, helping to fade any scarring or discolouration caused by acne. O Cosmedics' Acne Purifying Exfoliant is perfect for this and also helps to reduce oiliness.

  3. Treat with Dermalux®: Dermalux LED therapy is one of the world's most powerful LED therapy. Here is an interesting fact, LED therapy was discovered by NASA, which has been researching the effect of light on plants and astronauts. Here at Visage Clinics Australia, Dermalux LED therapy has been found to reduce acne flare-ups by stimulating the healing process and killing bacteria.

  4. Get a Deep Clean Treatment: They say prevention is better than cure, and this is true for Acne. At Visage Clinics Australia, we offer a range of deep clean treatments to help prevent Acne flare-ups before they happen (again). These include Carbon X Facial, which helps cleanse and detoxify the skin, Acne Peel, which exfoliates and helps reduce inflammation, as well as O Cosmedics Acne Treatment, which reduces excess oil and bacteria.

  5. Stay Hydrated! Acne is often triggered by dehydration, so it’s important to stay hydrated if you want to keep Acne away. Drinking at least eight glasses of water per day can help the skin stay hydrated and healthy. Eat Healthily: Eating a balanced diet that is rich in essential vitamins and minerals can help reduce Acne flare-ups.

Of course, this is general advice, and Acne can have many different causes, so it’s always best to consult with your GP or Dermatologist if you have any questions or concerns. At Visage Clinics Australia, we offer Acne Management Plans that include Dermalux LED Light Therapy and O Cosmedics Acne Treatment products. These plans are tailored specifically to each client's needs.
