At Visage Clinics Australia, we only use safe and effective machines to ensure you achieve the results you are after. That's why we use Candela Gentlemax Pro.
This TGA approved, medical-grade machine integrates both Alexandrite & YAG technology, meaning, no matter what your skin colour, we will be able to treat you!
To enhance your experience, we use the Zimmer advanced cooling system that simultaneously operates as we treat you. This allows your skin to cool down during the process of laser hair reduction.
8-12 sessions are recommended. However, this depends on the type of skin and hair, hormone levels, response to laser hair removal and other factors such as taking certain supplements. We are confident you will see the results after the first session. However, depending on the area to be treated, multiple sessions may be required at intervals of 4-6 weeks for permanent hair reduction. You can expect to see a reduction of up to 90%. For best results, annual maintenance therapy is recommended for several years.
Right from the start, the dermal therapists at Visage Clinics Australia will ensure you are relaxed and comfortable. Some clients report a tingling sensation on the skin's surface during treatment. Some are described as a rubber band snapping onto the skin. Treatment is painless for most clients. We also use the Zimmer, which blows cold air simultaneously while we laser.
Great question—and one we get often. Home laser hair removal devices might seem convenient, but they are significantly less powerful than the medical-grade Candela lasers we use in our Sydney clinic. This means:
They may not effectively target hair at the root.
Results are often inconsistent or temporary.
There's a higher risk of skin irritation or ineffective treatment, especially for darker skin tones.
For safe, long-lasting, and professional results, especially on sensitive or large areas like the face, underarms, or bikini line, we strongly recommend visiting a licensed clinic. Nothing beats the expertise, precision, and safety of in-clinic treatments with medical-grade technology.
This is one of the most common and important questions we hear and understanding the difference can really help you choose the right treatment for lasting results.
While both IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and laser hair removal aim to reduce hair growth by targeting the pigment in hair follicles, they work in very different ways.
Here’s a clear comparison:
Feature | IPL | Laser (Candela) |
Light Source | Broad-spectrum light | Focused, single wavelength |
Precision | Less targeted | Highly precise and consistent |
Skin Penetration | Shallow | Deep, more effective penetration |
Skin Type Suitability | Limited; higher risk for darker skin | Safe for most skin types with custom settings |
Comfort | Often feels hot or stingy | More comfortable with built-in cryogen cooling |
Number of Sessions | Requires more sessions | Fewer sessions needed (typically 8-12) |
Results | Temporary and patchy | Long-term hair reduction, reliable results |
At our Sydney laser clinic, we exclusively use Medical Grade Candela GentleMax Pro and GentleLase systems, which are TGA-approved and medically certified for safe and effective hair removal. These are true lasers, not IPL devices, which means they offer superior results, greater precision, and faster treatment times.
Many beauty salons use IPL machines because they’re cheaper and easier to operate, but that comes at the cost of efficacy and safety. In contrast, our Candela lasers are operated by qualified technicians and are backed by years of clinical data and performance.
Bottom line: If you're looking for permanent hair reduction that’s fast, safe, and suitable for your skin type, laser hair removal with medical-grade technology is the clear winner. Skip the guesswork and come see us in Sydney for personalised, professional care.
