ABOUT LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT
When undergoing laser hair removal treatment, it is important to choose an experienced provider for treating darker skin tones. This is because the melanin in dark skin can absorb more laser energy, leading to burns and other side effects.

At Visage Clinics Australia, we have extensive experience performing laser hair removal on all skin types, including dark skin. Our team of experts will work with you to personalise your treatment plan and ensure that you get the best possible results.

With our state-of-the-art technology, we are able to remove unwanted hair from all skin types (regardless of your colour). With our Candela Gentlemax Pro, we are able to precisely target the hair follicle with the right amount of laser energy. The heat generated by these treatments safely destroys the roots without damaging surrounding skin or organs, so you can finally enjoy being smooth! This ensures that the treatment is effective and safe for all skin types.

Our team will work closely to find an effective solution for reducing growth rates in specific areas such as legs, arms etc., whether it be permanent removal during one visit (up to 90% reduction) or long term results after multiple sessions.

If you have dark skin and are looking for a safe and effective way to remove unwanted hair, contact Visage Clinics Australia today. We will work with you to create a tailored treatment plan that meets your needs and expectations.

The Laser Hair Removal Process
Traditional hair removal methods such as shaving and waxing are temporary before the hair becomes thick and strong. This can be especially related to facial hair. Shaving and plucking promotes painful ingrown hair and can cause unpleasant skin irritation. As a result, more and more people are choosing laser hair removal.
Step 1. Preparation
We always invite you to a free initial consultation before performing laser hair removal treatment. The purpose of the consultation is to ask a few questions about your health and lifestyle so that you can be sure that laser hair removal is appropriate. A thorough consultation is provided to all clients, including previous treatments, current medications, allergies, and history of other skin problems.
Step 2. Test Patch
Next, we perform a small skin patch test to ensure that the laser technique does not adversely affect the skin. If the patch test is successful, we can proceed with booking you in for the laser hair removal treatment.
Step 3. Pre Treatment
Be sure you shave as close to your skin as possible 24 hours before shaving (with a razor). If you miss an area, a $29 shaving fee will apply. The closer the hair is to the skin, the better results you will achieve, so shaving is essential. We will not be able to laser over hair longer than 2mm. Shaving fees apply per area not shaved.

Please come showered with NO moisturiser, deodorant, fake tan or any kind of lotion. Avoid excessive sun exposure on the area being treated two weeks prior (including solariums or tanning drugs).
Please let us know 24hrs prior to your booking if you wish to cancel or amend your booking.
Step 4. Treatment
After completing your medical consent form, our dermal therapist will take you into the laser room to commence your treatment.

Prior to your actual treatment:

-
The therapist will mark the treatment areas in a grid form with a white pencil or highlighter to ensure all areas are covered efficiently.
-
The cooling device (Zimmer) will be used with the laser to cool the area during treatment.
-
Protective eyewear will be worn by the client and therapist in the treatment room during the procedure.
-
Once the laser machine has been prepared, it is then moved over the skin area and activated.
-
The average laser hair removal session duration is typically about 15 – 90 minutes. This is all dependent on the treatment area and size and used based on your gender and the amount of hair you wish to remove.
Step 5. Aftercare
It is important to follow recommend aftercare post laser hair removal treatment in order to achieve the best results. Please see below for Aftercare instructions following your laser hair removal treatment.

-
Redness & Bumps are normal and common. These may last a few hours after your treatment. You must use Medi-Soothe post laser treatment gel to help hydrate your skin. You should use a cold compress if the sensitivity continues. Darker pigmented skin may have more discomfort than lighter skin & may persist longer.
-
Cleanse the area treated gently.
The treated area may be washed gently with a mild soap. Skin should be patted dry & not rubbed during the first 48 hours.
-
No makeup & lotion/moisturiser/deodorant for the first 24 hours.
Keep the treated area clean & dry, if further redness or irritation persists, avoid any makeup, moisturiser and deodorant (for underarms) until the irritation has subsided. You must use aftercare gel recommended by the therapist.
-
Dead hairs will begin to shed 5-30 days after your treatment.
Dead hair being shed from the hair follicle, will appear within 5-30 days from the treatment date. This is normal & the dead hairs will fall out quickly.
-
Exfoliate to speed up hair shedding.
Anywhere from 5-30 days after the treatment, shedding of the hair may occur, it is not new hair growth, but the dead hair pushing its way out of the follicle. You can help the hair come out by washing with a cloth and exfoliant recommended by the therapist.
-
Avoid the sun.
Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of dark or light spots for 2 weeks. Always use sunscreen throughout the treatment period and for 1-2 months following.
-
Do not pick/scratch/wax/thread/tweeze the area.
Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. Do not use any other hair removal methods or products, other than shaving, as it will prevent you from achieving the best results.
-
Hair growth varies.
On average, most will experience a level of hairless happiness after 6-9 sessions but is not guaranteed.
